Welcome to Utopia, Greetings from Bozo Town

My life got very happy and very messy and very full in the last year. The day before we left for Ethiopia to meet our daughter my book editor sent me back the edit of my first book. Excellent timing Obi Wan! When we returned I would scrabble away at the manuscript while darling Ava went down for her little cat naps. It was a long summer, but the work was rich. Ava has been home for a year and she jumps higher and twirls harder and laughs bigger and kisses softer than anyone I know.

My book WELCOME TO UTOPIA: NOTES FROM A SMALL TOWN is now available in bookstores and on Amazon. On the off chance that anyone out there has time for reading this summer (ha!) here is a trailer for the book, shot by the one true Papa Dog.

Annnnnnnd.... here is the unfortunate blooper reel from said trailer. Oh lord, I'm hopeless.

Love the trailer, but you know I love the blooper trailer more ;) Hilarious!

Bravo! And congratulations. Will be looking into getting your book. Plus you did it all with Ava pulling at your shins, now that is really something.

O.k., first you made me cry (1st trailer-which was awesome and so touching--maybe b/c I'm from "that" town) and then you made me laugh out loud...2nd trailer. HILARIOUS.

So awesome. The whole thing!

Well, if you ever want to do a sequel you can go to Black Earth, WI where I grew up :) It's actually not quite as removed, but your trailer struck such a cord with me. I've been gone for 15 years and lately can't stop thinking of the life I didn't live if I had stayed there. Can't wait to get your book. Oh, and your bloopers pretty much made me fall out of my chair laughing!!!!
Congratulations on your publication!!

I have missed your blog so much this last year and have often worried that your daughter was struggling to attach. So glad to hear it was actually your fantastic project keeping you away from the blogosphere.
Can't wait to read the book.

Oh, I love both! One was so poignant and touching, which reached my sentimental small town side.... Then the other one was adorably cute, and you were so precious!

Glad to hear what a successful and full year you had! Sounds like you need a vacation... :)

I loved the trailers so much and can't wait to get a copy. Writing a book must be a marathon too, Congratulations.

Karen,

I'm so excited for you. Your book sounds amazing. And the trailer was great. I'll def. post about it on my blog. Is that why you moved to Texas in the first place?

Very proud! Can't wait to read it.

I'm still cracking up at the bloopers! My fav part is the "This isn't just getting my crotch is it?" I'm dealing with a babe who doesn't think napping is necessary unless I'm holding her (I want to shower!) so I truly needed to laugh.

Also, almost done with the book! I love it. I've cried too many times to count. But I've also laughed and sighed amongst the tears. Love. It.

Karen, I just checked my Google Reader for the first time in a while. Those bloopers are too, too funny!! Tim is good at editing comedy! (Or perhaps you just provide so much material.) :) Amy

Really enjoyed reading your book, but was left wondering what the place and people looked like. Now I have some idea, so thanks very much.
